Soren Attar

Introduction;Soren Attar was born on Corellia in 43 BBY and grew up believing in the ways of the Republic. He grew up around ships and learned how to fix them almost as quickly as he learned how to fly them. When the Republic fell, Soren helped evacuate Republic personnel and civilians aboard a Pelta-class frigate. Once they reached safety, he took his BTL-B Y-wing, Resolute, and his astromech R3-V7 “Vee” and began fighting the Empire wherever he could.Soren was eventually captured. His Y-wing was destroyed, Vee was dismantled for scrap, and he was taken into Imperial custody for the next nine years. The Empire tortured and manipulated him, using his knowledge of spacecraft to help develop TIE fighters and forcing information out of him about Rebel operations.
They even made him fly for them. The Empire also believed Soren knew the location of a Jedi he had once been close to, they offered him his freedom in exchange for the information, but no matter what they did to him. . . Soren never gave them up.After finally escaping Imperial custody, Soren disappeared to Lothal where he keeps to himself. Moving from system to system and taking whatever work he can find; repairing ships, trading goods, and occasionally taking a bounty. He says he doesn't fight for anyone anymore, but deep down, Soren still remembers the Republic he grew up believing in and the Empire hasn't forgotten him either.

Born on Corellia in 43 BBY, Soren Attar was raised beneath the ideals of the Galactic Republic. His father, a skilled spacecraft engineer, introducing him to the world of starships from an early age.Soren quickly developed a talent for understanding machines, engines, and the intricate systems that kept starfighters in the sky; but engineering was never enough for him.As he grew older, his fascination with spacecraft evolved into a desire to become a pilot and serve the Republic. When the Republic collapsed and the Jedi were branded traitors, Soren refused to stand by and watch his fellow soldiers and innocent civilians die. He boarded a Pelta-class frigate, helping Republic personnel and civilians escape the chaos as the newly formed Empire turned against its own people. When the frigate finally returned to what remained of their base, he climbed into his BTL-B Y-wing named Resolute accompanied by his astromech R3-V7 "Vee."Soren began fighting back against the Empire wherever he could and for a time, he believed that if he fought hard enough, perhaps the ideals he had grown up believing in could survive.During the fight, Soren was captured by Imperial forces. His Y-wing was destroyed, and Vee was taken apart and repurposed for scrap.Soren was brought into Imperial custody and for nine years, the Empire did everything it could to erase the man he had been.He was interrogated, tortured, manipulated, and indoctrinated. The Empire exploited his knowledge of spacecraft engineering, forcing him to contribute to the development and refinement of TIE starfighters. He was forced to reveal trade routes and even some remaining bases that held fellow Rebels and innocent civilians.Eventually, the Empire even put him behind the controls of a TIE Fighter, expecting him to eradicate the very people he held dear. For a year, Soren flew for the Empire he had once sworn to destroy, but they never completely broke him, but there was one other thing that caused Soren to become increasingly valuable. He knew a Jedi. He was close friends with them, convincing the Empire that he knew the whereabouts of the "traitor".They tortured him for the information, offering him freedom in exchange for the location, but
Soren never gave them a thing. They never found the truth.Eventually, Soren escaped Imperial custody, leaving behind the only life he had known for nearly a decade. Broken, distrustful, and haunted by what the Empire had done to him, he fled to Lothal, where he disappeared into the fringes of the galaxy. Now, Soren drifts from system to system with no allegiance to the Rebellion, the Empire, or any other faction. He trades goods, takes the occasional bounty, repairs ships, and does whatever work keeps fuel in his tank and food in his stomach. But beneath his hardened exterior, the old Soren is still there. Somewhere beneath years of trauma and betrayal, his heart still belongs to the Republic he remembers. There are bounties bearing his name, Imperials searching for his trail, and people throughout the galaxy who would gladly turn him in for the credits.

Headcanons.
Soren has extreme ptsd when it comes to certain things. He hates the sound of anything shock related (like shock batons). He will never sleep with his back towards the open, hates restraints, swagger sticks, medical equipment, being surrounded by people and absolutely hates people being behind him.
He doesn't like being called a hero. He'll insist he was “just trying to get people out alive.”
Soren keeps some tiny piece of his old Republic life hidden somewhere on his ship; a damaged insignia, old flight patch, component, etc.
He has a surprisingly good singing voice but refuses to admit it.
Soren talks to machines when he works on them. Not full conversations, just muttering things like, “Come on, don't do this to me.”
Soren does not like being touched in any manner because he simply doesn't know how to handle it.
He has trouble accepting kindness because part of him automatically assumes there's a price attached.
He absolutely hates being called by his Imperial designation, P-4318 and does not like when someone asks about it over and over again.
Soren loves droids and keeps an old memory chip belonging to "Vee", his past R3 unit, aboard his new ship. He plays the memory chip every so often to remember his friend, especially when he's stressed.
Sorens new personal starfighter was once an old, half destroyed Z-95 Headhunter that he built back up with spare components. It is completely modified to his liking and even painted like no other fighter. This starfighters name is the Remnant.
The true identity of Sorens Jedi friend were never revealed to anyone. Some assume he was close friends with the Jedi, but no one ever knew that the Jedi was actually his step-brother.
Soren has been with the Empire ( unwillingly) for 9 years. This means that he will still carry traits of an Imperial and do things like an Imperial out of habit, but this does not mean he is an Imperial. He actually hates when he catches himself acting like one.
He does harbor a small amount of resentment towards the Republic because no one had ever tried ( to his knowledge) to get him out of the Empire's hands.
Soren has the occasional slip of "they abandoned me." And "how could they? They were my brothers..my friends." But he quickly snuffs those thoughts away and overall would forgive the Republic

Lothal:
Lothal was the planet that Soren had chosen to be his place of refuge after he had escaped the Empire's hand he had been in for 9 years. He hardly goes to it's city and normally sticks to the vast outskirts. Soren even found himself a cave well hidden by the planets topography. He has his own shop built within it and hides his ship underneath a brush overhang. If Soren ever does leave his hideout, he is well prepared with a poncho covering most of his attire and a hood up and over his head to conceal his face. Sometimes, he even wears a scarf to hide the lower parts of his face.Due to the Empire having a strong presence on Lothal at this time, Soren hardly ever left the confines of his cave unless he absolutely had to. His home he made located far away from any imperial eyes.
